Swim 2018

28-29
July
1km & 4.5km
races
Buranbayev lake,
Aqmola region

The lake’s historical name “Auliekol” translates as “Sacred lake”. In the bay 20 meters above the water surface rises the mushroom-shaped rocky island of Zhumbaktas (“Sphinx”). The Bay Area is also home to the 300 meters high Okzhetpes mountain (literally translated as “beyond an arrow’s reach”, sometimes also referred to as the “little Elephant”). These two natural wonders will guide your swim.

Buranbayev lake is a geological wonder created by a meteorite fall, possibly 3-5 thousand years ago. A body 800 meters wide believed to have broken through the Earth’s crust and caused a rise of enormous volume of minerals. This explains the purity and the healing power of the lake’s water
